Posting links?

Category: Zone BBS Q&A

Hi, I am just wondering if posting links in board posts is permissible? And if so, how would one go about doing so?
Blessings,
Angela

Yeah, I was wondering how it was done too. Just never thought about asking. Lol. Thanks.

It's possible, but I don't know how to show it without it working.

My best suggestion is to go find an html tutorial and find how to make links. IT's just basic html.

Ok, here's how you do it.
Since I can't actually type it without it showing up as a link, just replace the opening parenthesis at the beginning and closing parenthesis at the end with less than and greater than signs respectively.

(a href='http://subdomain.domain.com/directory/file.ext'>Example Link</a)
In actual link form, that would look like this:
Example Link
If you're somehow confused by my instructions, go ahead and open this page up by going to the view menu and clicking source. you can then see the exact link form and check how to do it. Also, if you're trying to access a page on the zone itself, you don't need to put the zone website in single quotes. So for just the part in quotations, you could just put '/logout.php' instead of 'http://www.zonebbs.com/logout.php'
Remember to put the http:// part at the beginning or else the link will automatically try to link to a page on this site, for example, www.zonebbs.com/www.google.com instead of http://www.google.com. This goes right along with the method for linking to a page on this website.

There are a few other things you should know about.

putting MailTo:User@domain.com inside the quotes will give you a link that opens up your default mail client to send a message to the email specified. For example

Send me a message by clicking here.
If you have skype, you can put a link to call you directly on a html page by putting CallTo:SkypeNameHere inside the quotes. for example: click here to test your skype sound settings.

anyway, I'm not goign to go on too much about links and things. If it weren't for a page I found on the internet dealing with this subject i wouldn't know how to do it myself, so I'm sure you can do the same.

I just realized that if you don't have skype, you're going to get net meeting, which i honestly have no idea how to use since I normally use skype at home if anything. But skype sort of takes over the CallTo protocol.

wo if i didn't have any such knowledge about html myself those instructions would have been oh so confusing! Although not sure how to explain it myself, so well...lol!

Yeah. It looks kinda hard. Well, I'll just have to read up on it, I guess. Do a little practice run with it, maybe. Hmmmm.

For an in-depth primer about the various HTML elements accepted on the Zone, read Getting Into the HTML Zone. By no means do I cover every facet of the HTML language in that post, but I do attempt to give you a fairly thorough demonstration of the tags supported by the Zone's filters.

What the heck did you use in Post 21? Was that BBCode or something?

Post 25 by robbiec12345 (Good night and Farewell ) on Sunday, 06-Dec-2009 14:33:31

In post 20, yes, it did look like BBCode to me. But as far as I know, the zone doesn't allow BBCode anyway.

How do you do the other ones, like the ones that make JAWS say:
Table with 2 collumns and 3 rows

Or other such things. I really want to try this now.
